PaddleHeads All-Star Outfielder Lamar Sparks Signs with Milwaukee Brewers
Milwaukee agrees to terms with Missoula, acquires OF Lamar Sparks
Missoula, MT. – Missoula PaddleHeads All-Star Outfielder, Lamar Sparks, has officially been signed by the Milwaukee Brewers. Sparks, originally from Katy, Texas had an MVP-caliber season in 2022 with the PaddleHeads. Sparks hit .399/.461/.665 over the course of the year. The .399 batting average was the highest on the PaddleHeads and 5th highest in the entire league. Sparks also hit 18 home runs and drove in 85 runs on the year. Considered a "5 tool" athlete, Sparks often showed off all of his tools whether it was his arm in the outfield throwing out a runner or swiping a stolen base. He stole 16 bases in 20 attempts on the season in helping the PaddleHeads to a nation-best .713 win percentage.
Missoula PaddleHeads Manager, Michael Schlact had this to say about Sparks,
"Lamar showed up in Missoula hungry to learn, improve, and get signed. He did all of the things and more as a PaddleHead. He was a threat to pitchers in the box and runners in the outfield. He played hard and wanted to win. We couldn't be prouder of all he accomplished with us and of him getting this well-deserved opportunity with the Milwaukee Brewers!"
Sparks becomes the first PaddleHeads player signed to an MLB club this offseason. In 2022, the PaddleHeads got 6 players signed by MLB clubs and now have had 12 signed total in two-plus seasons of being an MLB Partner League Independent franchise. Sparks was a former 5th-round draft pick by the Baltimore Orioles in 2017. He will now get another chance to reach his big-league dreams with the Brewers. Sparks will be heading to spring training with the Brewers in a few months' time.
